Gianluigi Buffon Optimistic Over His Recovery & Italy Success
Buffon believes he can recover in time for the next round...
Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has offered a source of hope that he can recover for the World Cup last 16, that's if his side progress through Group F.
Buffon has been nursing a herniated spinal disc since the 1-1 draw with Paraguay. And while the medics were not able to give an estimate on his recovery time, his own forecast looks bright.
"I don't want to fool myself, but I am much better physically now and I am also better from a morale perspective," he told Tuttosport.
"Immediately after the injury I was really down, but now I have started smiling again.
"I hope to continue like this and to get better progressively. I hope to continue on this road so that I can be available for the last 16.
"It's a dream for now, but I want to believe in it."
Despite Buffon's enthusiasm, voices from Centurion suggest he is likely to recover by July 2, when the quarter-finals begin.
La Nazionale clash with Slovakia on Thursday. A win will see them progress through the group.
