Giorgio Chiellini Demands Wins Against Montenegro & Ireland
The stopper is ready to help his side put Montenegro and Ireland to the sword...
Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini is urging his side to take maximum points from the World Cup double header against Montenegro on Saturday, and then Ireland on Wednesday.
The Azzurri have been working hard in training this week as they plan a scheme to take down the opposition and affirm control of Group 8. The Juventus man is showing hunger and determination as he prepares to carry his side further towards South Africa 2010.
"We have to win both games and obtain the six points," Chiellini told Firenzeviola.it.
"Maximum points would be determining in terms of prospective World Cup qualification."
Although Calcio's image has suffered a blow following Champions League elimination for Inter, Roma and Juventus, Chiellini believes the national team can put Italian football back on the football map.
"We have to show a difference between club and country," added the stopper.
"Like [Marcello] Lippi said, a country shows its football through the national team."
Montenegro can prove to be a tough side to break down, Chiellini has picked out the dangermen, but he is convinced his side can meet the threat full on.
"[Stevan] Jovetic will represent the biggest threat for us alongside Sporting Lisbon's Simon Vukcevic. They are a good group and want to do well in front of their own crowd," concluded Chiellini.
