Lippi To Announce Azzurri Squad This Saturday

Marcello Lippi

It has been confirmed that Marcello Lippi will name his squad for the upcoming friendly against Brazil this weekend.

Italy will travel to London to square off against Brazil in an international friendly match on Tuesday February 10, 2009.

Despite being solely a friendly, the result itself will be extremely significant for the Azzurri, as their current coach Marcello Lippi is hoping to break the all time record for most games without defeat, against the most successful nation in world football.

If Lippi’s men can attain a result, he will take his tally of matches without a defeat to 32, which would enable him to surpass the current record of 31 and claim the outright lead.

There are many players who are in line for a call up to the squad, and it has been confirmed that the former Juventus boss will announce his squad this Saturday, just four days out from the match itself.

Those selected will meet Sunday evening in Milan, before undertaking a training session at the San Siro the next day. Lippi and his men will then travel to the Emirates Stadium that night, where they will be hoping to assist their coach in his quest to create history.
