One of the most promising goalkeepers in Italy is Frederico Marchetti of Cagliari. The players has been one of the reasons behind Cagliari's turn around this season and many believe he could be a future call-up for the Italian national side.

In fact, Cagliari sporting director Francesco Marroccu claims that Italy coach Marcello Lippi has already taken an interest in the former AlbinoLeffe keeper.

"Marchetti? We know that Lippi is following him closely," he told Naples radio station RadioKissKiss. "He was one of the best goalkeepers in Serie B and has proven to have great personality, despite his young age. He is playing like a veteran."

The 25-year-old was handed the gloves since his arrival at Cagliari in the summer and has responded very well.

Recently, Juventus and Italy number one Gianluigi Buffon also praised Marchetti, saying he was one of the country's rising stars.
