Luca Toni believes Italy coach Marcello Lippi has picked the best players for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro as he prepares to play his part in proceedings...
The Bayern Munich hit-man was included in the squad as was Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino. Toni is up against it and he will need to fight Gila for a place in the team.
However, he doesn't seem phased. The striker has hailed Lippi and he believes the coach has made all the right choices when picking his squad.
"These games are always tough but we are Italy and we are very strong and thus we have to win both games in order to consolidate our position on top of the group," Toni told Journalists at Coverciano upon his arrival on Tuesday morning.
"Lippi is a great coach and he has shown his strengths. We have to trust him. He makes the choices and in any case, the players who he thinks are the best always make the national team."
La Nazionale are currently top of their group 8 World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign following two wins from their games against Cyprus and Georgia.
More of the same is expected on Saturday as they travel to Sofia to take on Dimitar Berbatov's Bulgaria. The World Champions hope to make their qualification chances more secure.
