Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi spoke about his good current form and said he is still waiting to win something important with Roma.
On a personal level, it's been a rough period for Daniele De Rossi. The Roma and Italian international midfielder recently lost two important people in his life: Roma president Franco Sensi and his father-in-law. However, on the pitch he has managed to put his grief aside, finding the net both for Roma and the national side, for whom he scored a brace last night in the match against Georgia.
After that game, Italy coach Marcello Lippi said De Rossi is one of the best midfielders in the world, comparing him with England stars Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
"I work to improve constantly at both club and international level, trying to do the best I can," said De Rossi. "I am very proud of Lippi's words of praise, because being compared to a legend like Gerrard is truly a great compliment."
The Rome-born player also feels that all great players must ultimately achieve something important at club level.
"The greatest players are those who win something at club level," he continued. "I want to become a great player by winning something important with the Roma shirt. This is my dream."
That will undoubtedly sound like music to every Roma fan's ears. Until now, De Rossi has won two Coppa Italias and one Italian Supercup with the Giallorossi since making his debut in 2002.
