Donadoni Still Sour Over Italy Treatment

Roberto Donadoni

Former Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is still bitter regarding his dismissal at the helm of La Nazionale. The 'Don' has taken aim at the Italian FA (FIGC) and he accuses them of unfair treatment.

Donadoni agreed to terminate his contract with the FIGC following Italy’s exit from Euro 2008.

The former Milan midfielder believes he was sacked for no reason and that the way he got ousted was unfair and harsh.

“That situation was a little too excessive,” Donadoni told SKY TG24.

“I don’t think certain people behaved fairly, but I am the one who can look at people in the face with no problem.

“If there are people who can’t look at me in the eyes, they do so because they are in the wrong, not me. I walk with my held high.”

“Things were rushed and, to be honest I expected the situation to be dealt with in different ways than what it actually was.

“This situation has not pushed me away from coaching at all.”

The media and fans turned against the coach even before the start of the tournament when he announced his squad selection.

Italy’s poor showing didn’t help the ‘Don’ either and it cost him his job.
